Why is it said that “major leaks are easy to block, but minor leaks are hard to treat”?
When major water leaks like gushing or spraying occur in underground structures, they may appear alarming and urgent. However, with proper methods and timely intervention, injecting dual-component cement grout can effectively resolve the issue. Once grouting is adequately applied to the affected area, major leaks will not recur.
However, due to cement grout's low stone formation rate, relatively high porosity, brittle rigidity prone to cracking, post-curing shrinkage, and inability to reach concrete cracks or loose honeycombs, minor seepage often persists after major leaks are sealed. This requires chemical grouting to address minor leaks.
Currently available chemical leak-sealing materials each have their advantages and disadvantages. Yet they share a common issue: leaks often reappear to varying degrees shortly after sealing, creating an endless cycle of “seal, leak, seal, leak” and reinforcing the widespread frustration that “minor leaks are impossible to fix.”
